Course 02 – Reignite or Release
Categories: Break up, Divorce, Domestic Violence, Men, Same-sex couples, Separation, Unhealthy Relationships
About Course
Hello and welcome to Course 2 – Reignite or Release. I was raised by parents who loved each other and stayed together for over 50 years until my mum passed away, both sets of grandparents stayed together for approximately 60 years.
I had no idea when I started dating that I had a choice if I was not being treated well to leave. I had witnessed old school relationships however never witnessed an unhealthy relationship.
Well didn’t that change when I started dating and that is why I created this course.
Over the years I have found myself living in different relationships experiencing so many different types of relationships. I still remember the first time I thought I cannot do this anymore, I should leave, however I had generational family that did not leave. When I finally decided to leave, my family was not happy, you see that is not how it works, my self-esteem dropped, guilt grew.
The difference being, my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, lived in healthy relationships, they had issues, but there was no alcohol, no drugs, no yelling and screaming, no abuse.
I created this course to help people who are feeling lost, stuck, maybe questioning the health of their relationship, unsure if they want to reignite their relationship or whether they should release it.
The course helps with understanding whether your relationship is healthy, unhealthy, or harmful. My aim is to help you gain clarity, confidence and with the practical tools to help with your decision-making.
I care for each and every one of you and from someone who has kissed a lot of frogs before she met her person, I believe we all deserve to live in healthy, happy relationships.

Course Content
MODULE 1: Taking an Honest Look at Your Relationship
Hello and Welcome to Module 1
Many people reach a point in their relationship where they begin asking themselves difficult questions, please know you are not alone.
• Am I happy?
• Is this relationship healthy?
• Am I staying because I want to or because I'm afraid to leave?
• Can things improve, or have I outgrown this relationship?
This module is designed to help you step back from emotions, obligations, and expectations and take an honest look at your relationship as it is today—not as it was in the beginning, and not as you hope it might become.
The goal is not to decide whether to stay or leave. The goal for this course is to help you gain clarity.

MODULE 2: Understanding Healthy Relationships
Hello and Welcome to Module 2 - Understanding Healthy Relationships
Perfection should not be a word used to relate to a healthy relationship. Every relationship experiences disagreements, misunderstandings, and challenges. I believe what makes a healthy relationship is how partners treat each other during both the good times and the difficult times.
A healthy relationship should provide a foundation of emotional safety, respect, trust, and mutual support. It allows both people to grow as individuals while remaining connected as partners.
I created this module to help you identify the characteristics of a healthy relationship and evaluate how these qualities show up in your own relationship.

MODULE 3 – Recognising Unhealthy Relationship Patterns
Hello and Welcome to Module 3 - Recognising Unhealthy Relationship Patterns
Every relationship experiences challenges, disagreements, and difficult periods. However, when unhealthy behaviours become repetitive, they can gradually erode trust, emotional safety, self-esteem, and connection.
Many people struggle to recognise unhealthy patterns because they often develop slowly over time. What may begin as occasional criticism, jealousy, or emotional withdrawal can eventually become a damaging cycle that affects both partners and the overall health of the relationship.
My aim for this module is to help you identify common unhealthy relationship patterns, understand emotional manipulation and control, and distinguish between occasional problems and serious concerns.

MODULE 4: Understanding Abuse and Coercive Control
Hello and welcome to Module 4 - Understanding Abuse and Coercive Control.
Abuse is not always physical. Many people experience harmful behaviours in relationships that leave no visible injuries but have profound emotional, psychological, financial, and social impacts.
Coercive control is a pattern of behaviours used to dominate, intimidate, isolate, or control another person. It often develops gradually, making it difficult to recognise while it is happening.
This module will help you identify different forms of abuse, understand coercive control, and recognise when a relationship has moved beyond unhealthy patterns into harmful or abusive behaviours.
Important Note: If you feel unsafe, threatened, or fearful in your relationship, your safety is the number one priority. Call your local police. Then consider reaching out to me, mel@relationshipresolutions.com.au, or other trusted supports or domestic violence services.

MODULE 5: Attachment Styles and Relationship Dynamics
Hello and welcome to Module 5, Attachment Styles and Relationship Dynamics
Many of our relationship behaviours are influenced by our earliest experiences of connection, safety, trust, and emotional support. These experiences help shape our attachment style—the way we connect with others, respond to conflict, seek closeness, and manage emotional needs.
Understanding your attachment style is not about assigning blame or placing yourself in a box. It is about developing self-awareness so you can recognise patterns, understand your needs, and build healthier relationships.
This module will help you identify your attachment style and explore how it may influence your current relationship.

MODULE 6: Communication Repair Skills
Hello and welcome to Module 6 - Communication Repair Skills.
Communication is often described as the foundation of a healthy relationship, but effective communication involves much more than simply talking. It includes listening, understanding, expressing needs clearly, setting boundaries, and repairing misunderstandings when they occur.
Many relationship problems are not caused by a lack of love but by a lack of communication skills. When couples learn how to communicate effectively, they are better able to navigate conflict, strengthen trust, and maintain emotional connection.
This module focuses on practical communication and conflict-resolution skills that can help improve relationship dynamics and create healthier interactions.

MODULE 7: Can this Relationship be repaired?
Hello and welcome to Module 7 - Can this relationship be repaired?
One of the most difficult questions people ask themselves is:
"Can my relationship be fixed?"
The answer of course depends less on how much love exists and more on whether both partners are willing and able to work on themselves to make meaningful, lasting changes.
Many relationships experience periods of difficulty and can recover. However, repair requires more than apologies, promises, or temporary improvements. It requires accountability, consistent behavioural change, commitment, and often professional support.
I created this module to help you evaluate whether genuine change is occurring and whether the relationship has the ingredients necessary for repair.

MODULE 8: If I Choose to Stay
Hello and welcome to module 8 - If I choose to Stay
Choosing to stay in a relationship is not simply a decision, I have juggled with the decision in my current relationship of twenty years, as we traversed through a new stepfamily, ghosts of our pasts, external situations. I believe it is a commitment to us to creating healthier patterns, stronger communication, and greater emotional wellbeing.
Staying should not mean accepting harmful behaviours or sacrificing your needs. It means making a conscious choice to work toward a relationship that is healthier, safer, and more fulfilling for both partners, than all other relationships before.
This module focuses on creating a practical plan for growth, setting healthy boundaries, strengthening the relationship, and evaluating progress over time.
Important Reminder: Staying is only a healthy option when emotional and physical safety are present, and both partners are willing to contribute to positive change.

MODULE 9: If I Choose to Leave or Release my Relationship
Hello and welcome to Module 9, If I Choose to leave or release my relationship
Choosing to leave a relationship can be one of the most difficult decisions you will ever make. It often involves grief, uncertainty, fear, hope, and significant life changes.
Leaving does not necessarily mean failure. Sometimes it is a decision made after careful reflection when a relationship is no longer healthy, you feel unsafe, you are not fulfilled, or your values and future goals no longer align.
I have not been so lucky in relationships, until I worked on myself. You see, I seem to choose broken birds who I believed I could help. I decided decades ago when leaving the father of my first child, it didn’t matter that my parents, their parents, aunts and uncles never divorced. After careful review and reflection, I was living in an extremely abusive relationship, he confessed his love for me over and over and then abuse me in every way possible. I had to leave or die. I never wanted my daughter to grow up thinking that was the way a partner could treat her.
There are more important things than a perceived love, number one is your children, it is an injustice to stay and continue the abuse cycle, your own self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence.
This module focuses on preparing emotionally, practically, and financially while building the support needed to navigate separation and recovery.
Important Note: If you are living in an unhealthy ABUSIVE, VIOLENT relationship experiencing abuse, coercive control, or fear for your safety, know that leaving is the most dangerous time in your relationship. Call the local police in your area, safety first. I wish someone had told me this, do not discuss or initiate separation without seeking professional support and developing a safety plan.
